Frequently Asked Questions
If you have a question about glass
repair that you would like answered that you do not see
here, please feel free to send us an email. Here we have
listed the most common questions asked about glass
resurfacing.
Question: How do you remove the damage and
polish the surface to make the glass look like new?
Answer:
We use a series of high-speed rotating disks at several
different grades of extremely fine abrasives to
progressively remove the scratch or graffiti, widening
the repair with each subsequent change of abrasive until
finally we polish the glass surface to pristine clarity.
Question: How much does it cost to remove
scratches or graffiti from glass?
Answer:
It
varies, but usually from 1/4 to 1/2 the cost of
replacement. Generally the more glass you have to
repair, the less per window, or area of damage, it will cost to restore.
Question:
Does the process of scratch or
graffiti removal weaken the glass?
Answer:
A scratch on the surface of
the glass actually causes a weak stress point. When the
scratch is removed the stress point is removed as well,
resulting in restoration of optimum strength for that
pane of glass.
Question:
Do you have to remove the glass to repair it?
Answer:
No, that's one of the benefits of
glass resurfacing, there is no need to remove the glass
in order to renew the surface.
Question:
Once graffiti caused from vandals is removed, what will
stop them from vandalizing again?
Answer:
When vandals begin to realize
that property owners will not tolerate graffiti
vandalism,
they typically don't return because they don't like
their "artwork" removed.
Question:
How deep of a scratch can you repair?
Answer:
We
haven't found a scratch that we can't repair. The deeper the
scratch, the more spread out we make the repair to avoid
visible distortions on the surface.
Question:
What kind of damage can be repaired?
Answer:
Scratched or pitted glass, acid graffiti, calcium and
mineral deposits from hard water, manufacturer defects,
construction damage, all kinds of surface damage.
